Failing to convince the courts to stop Windows XP delivery soon, privacy advocates are appealing to the Federal Trade Commission.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (http://www.epic.org/) and other organizations filed a new complaint with the FTC on Thursday alleging Microsoft Passport constitutes an "Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practice". This filing was preceded with a similar complaint about Windows XP due to release very soon.

The complaints allege that Microsoft is engaging in deceptive trade practices through the information collection mechanisms of its new products.

their sales of XP are going to flop but not because of some silly info mechanism but because of the difficulty in installing and maintaining large networks using XP

My clients still on Windows 98, ask if there is any real need to go to Windows XP.

My reply, "Well...ahhhh...it has this Bridging feature...and ahhh...just forget it."
