I know most of us use keyboard shortcuts, but what's the one you use the most, or the one you consider your favorite, or even the one that you thank the heavens that it was ever conceived?

Click away, peeps ;)

I think that the most I use is alt + ctrl + del. Or alt + tab.
And the second one would probably be alt + F4.
Third would be ctrl + c, ctrl + v, or ctrl + x

Windows + M and Windows + Print Screen come in handy a lot.

Out of those, I'd say I use alt-tab the most to minimize a game window.

I use copy and paste all the time, but those are binded to the side buttons on my mouse so I guess they don't count.

Alt-Tab, most definitely. I use a lotta keyboard shortcuts, but I find myself using Alt-Tab the most.

When I was using my das's old computer it crashed every hour so I used ctrl+alt+delete a lot but now I have a new computer and it doesn't crash at all :) (well, sometimes, but rarely). I made a shortcut to taskmanager in the start menu and I sometimes use ctrl+c, ctrl+x, ctrl+v, & ctrl+s when typing in word.

task manager all the way baby

FYI - also in most, not sure about all, cases CTRL-SHIFT-ESC does the same as CTRL-ALT-DEL

[Win Key] + L :: Locks the PC, if a login is required - I use it all the time when someone disrupts my private moments ;)

Other fav's
are Ctrl + Insert :: Copy (like Ctrl + C)
and Shift + Insert :: Paste (like Ctrl + V)

I use my right hand alot - hehe

I also like the ALT + [number pad] to get all those less common but frequently used symbols such as © (ALT + 0169)

But I think the Windows Lock is my fav, frustraits the SĦ1Ŧ out of my boss who likes to walk around my desk all the time to see what I am working on.

Hope these help someone get more out of thiere keyboard!

Alt + Tab, simply because it's, in my opinion, better than using the mouse to sift through open apps.

Other! I have a Dell Optiplex GX260 running Win2k, and I honestly don't use a mouse at all on it. I use the Copy/Cut/Paste shortcuts all the time (I have hotkeys on the keyboard for them), Alt+Tab, Window+D, Alt+F4, and the Tab and Right-click buttons on the keyboard most of all, not necessarily in that order.

And I know plenty of App-specific shortcuts too. Ctrl+A and Ctrl+Shift+< or > are my faves in Word, etc. (select all, font scale down, font scale up).

Everyone who hears about that thinks I'm crazy for not using a mouse.

I voted Ctrl + T as I'm addicted to Firefox. Gotta love the create a new tab shortcut. I usually have about 5 to 8 tabs open at once but my record is somewhere around 18. I like to not open a new firefox window if I don't have to.

The runners up though are Win+L, and Alt+Tab. And, as I'm used to working on systems with Novell client installed I don't use Ctrl + Alt + Del. I use Ctrl + Shift + Esc instead. In NT based systems it brings up the Task Manager without bringing up the Novell options.

For Firefox, mouse gestures > keyboard shortcuts

I'd have to go with Alt-Tab...although Firefox makes it really close with Ctrl-Tab. Yes, Crtl-T is useful, but most of the time to get a new tab I just middle-click (or ctrl-click) on the link, so I use Ctrl-Tab far more.

Open-Apple + Space : Bound to Quiksilver's quick launch ... ;)

Haha, as for my PC, I probably use Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Tab the most, but if I were to vote for a *favorite*, I'd definitely go with Ctrl+Alt+Del.

I also jokingly refer to the spacebar as "the any key" based on the habits of some old time computer users of asking "where the @#$% is the 'any' key?"

CTRL+ALT+DEL in windows (when i works btw)

[linux a)]the old CTRL+ALT+ESC in mandrake 10 (i think it was called xkill) it brought up a skull 'n' crossbones as your cursor and any app you clicked on was killed.

[linux b)] CTRL+ALT+F* (F1-F6) virtual terminals. in every distro and they have saved me many times. and they are cool. textmode mp3 playing+ websurfing thaks to virtual terminals.

Definitely Ctrl+Alt+Del because Windows frequently locks me out (probably because I run Roxio EMC8 which doesn't get along very well with windows.

Definately ctl-alt-delete for those moments when the applications freeze due to lack of ram. I guess having 12 browser windows open, irc, msn and a graphics program running are a bit much for 512mbs. lmao

I just shoved another gig in my laptop though so I won't be using it quite so often now. ;)

What's a keyboard shortcut? My mother had a whole 3 page list of them she made up in full color when my parents got their first computer - a 486 DX. She's finally given up on printing it up after swapping PCs now that they're on the 3rd one - a Celeron that I've nicknamed "Celery!" I can't make up my mind about what OS to use and they differ a bit from one to the other. I have 3 versions of Linux and Windows XP Professional in both 32 and 64 bit editions and you want me to learn shortcuts???!!!???

I voted Alt+Tab though this would be a close second or third. I love Tabs in Firefox. I have 8 homepages and it grows by about one a month!!!

(Just put them all in a bookmark file and set that file as your homepage, just case someone didn't know)

I guess multiple homepages would not be that great on a dial-up though. I would hate to have to wait for all 8 pages to load everytime I opened a new window.

Tabs are great for dial-up though. After I google something I can open all pages that raise my interest. By the time I'm done reading the first page of search results the first page I opened is finished loading. I advance to the second page of search results, read the first page I opened. By the time I'm done with that all the other pages are finished loading. When I'm through with those I go back to the google tab and repeat.

I used a dial-up for two years and never had any interest getting broadband until I started downloading stuff. I could surf faster and more efficient using my dial-up+Firefox than I could using my parents' broadband+IE.

Firefox rules!!!!

Windows Vista adds some new ones that change how the windows are displayed. There's even one that tiles all the open windows at an angle so you can see all of their contents at once. It's just alt and control with no delete key.

In one of my games my favorite is shift + tab. It lets me see if I still need to get something before I finish a level. Alt + F2 is a good one too. Lets me save the game before my character dies.

Ctrl+Ins, Shift+Ins and Shift+Del are the ones I use most because of 2 reasons. I learned programming in TurboC and I use mouse with left hand.

Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Alt+Del are definitly the two most helpful, even vital in some situations.
