Hey, first of all, nice website. Aight, for some reason i cant get my Star Craft to work on Brood War, and i dont know why. Whenever i try to get on b-net it Ctrl-Alt-Del's itself, and i cant play Brood War or Star Craft anymore. Do you know what i can do to fix it?

Glad you liked the site.

Anyway, I assume StarCraft worked before? Maybe before you installed Brood War? Did you install anything recently that might cause this problem? Upgraded anything?

First thing to do will be to delete your bncache.dat file (it's located in your StarCraft game folder). Try reconnect to Battle.Net afterwards and see if it still bonks you back to desktop.

If you still encounter problems, I would recommend uninstalling the game, do a complete scandisk/defrag of your system, and then try reinstalling StarCraft & BroodWar. Download the patch directly from here (http://www.opentechsupport.net/cgi-bin/faqcgi/ubbcount.cgi?expath1=Forum6&expath2=&topic=000002&type=&number=6), and apply it offline before you connect to Battle.Net.

If this doesn't work, try to see if you got the latest drivers for your video card, sound card, and modem/network card. Also check if your CD-ROM needs a firmware update or something.

Blizzard has a page just for this, you can visit it at: http://www.blizzard.com/support/starcraft/problems/gamecrash.shtml

If you still encounter problems, let us know, and we got more people here to help you out. Good Luck

Thanks dude. I know a couple of people that have the same problem as me and b-net tech dudes supposively said it has to do with the recent patch, and about that Banache thingy, whenever i delete it, it just comes back. . .

About the bncache.dat always coming back: it's supposed to do that. Battle.Net creates a new bncache.dat file everytime you log on. It's your bnet cache file (or garbage container, for want of a better word).

The thing about the bncache.dat is that sometimes, it can accumulate corrupted data, and when Battle.Net reads it, you'll get problems. Deleting bncache.dat is clearing your cache or garbage file, and Battle.net recreates a fresh one everytime you log back on http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/smile.gif
