What instant messaging (IM) software do you use?

Hmmm, a little late, but here's the Friday poll folks!

In the age of personal messaging and voice chat, many of us have decided to use some software to regularly check up on our buddies online.

So, what instant messaging (IM) software do you use? If you use two or three different IM software regularly, which one do you use the most?

I don't use any. But, after reading up on Trillian today, I'm considering using it.

I have a question about Trillian. Do I need to sign up with one of the supported IM services or does Trillian have their own system?

I've been using ICQ exclusively for the past few years, but just a couple weeks ago I downloaded AIM so I could send UhOk a file..I also seem to have MSNM installed, though I don't remember downloading it.

1. MSN messenger these days.

2. ICQ - but use it seldom, because I had to keep asking people to re-add me. I don't like the "new" version at all! :(

3. Tried Yahoo messenger and didn't like it at all :(

Well since my ISP is Aol+, then its AIM, but I use AIM seperately sometimes to send or receive files from people I know.

Ive used MSN Messenger before, and hated it and I never took the time to figure out ICQ.

Trillian all the way. With over 300 contacts, there's no way I could just pick one - I have people I talk to on all four clients, so Trillian is a huge convenience for me.

Trillian is awesome. I always hated using AIM to talk to my parents and then ICQ to talk to my friends. With Trillian I can talk to everyone all in one convienient program. :)

I have completely ceased using ICQ. It is absolutely worthless to me now. The only people I communicated with over it was the OTS/TG community. Naturally, I can reach all of you here or at TG.

So, ICQ got the boot.

I use AIM to communicate with everyone else - friends from high school/college and some family.

If a lot of people here are going to start using Trillian, I may get into it. I can reach all of you here, but sometimes real time communication is more convenient - or necessary.

Due to security issues I do not stay online with ICQ anymore, instead I may chack it when I think of it, usually about 1 a week.

I just stopped using ICQ, I'm using Trillian now and so far I like it much better, no more annoying banners and other crap like that.
And now that guy that wanted me to install MSN can stop whining too :)

I've used Triilian for about a year now and I LOVE it.

I only have one IM running and can talk to people on ICQ/Yahoo/MSN/AOL and IRC at the same time.

I use AIM, just because everyone I know is on it. It is the best way to communicate with people.

i use AIM the most and sometimes MSN...i just started IRC but i dont know if thats concidered IM

BTW...how can you stand all those flowers for ICQ? :p
i hope you know that program installs a bunch of files that you'll never be able to remove :p

I'm considering using trilian now because I have heard that it is easy to use and is much better than AIM.

You should use Trillian (as I do). It bundles all the IM clients into one app.

Trillian is great. It is so much easier, and you don't have to download 5 other programs for chat clients, you just have 1.

I checked it out and it looked pretty good but I didn't see a Mac version. So oh well, I'll just wait.
