View Full Version : Will you be buying Warcraft III when it comes out?

It's been two weeks since the Warcraft III Beta has started. And there have been numerous write-ups about the beta itself, majority of which are raving and giving the game some very good feedback.
For a compiled list of these early reviews, visit this link:
http://www.blizzard.com/war3/faq/betacoverage.shtml
Based on the write-ups, or your experience in playing it (if you got the chance to play the beta), will you be buying this game when it comes out? Or is it too early to tell?

I was gonna say no but I may buy it. Theres no way I will buy it though without playing it first.
The main issue with the game for me is Bnet. Bnet is known as lagnet to me now, and I dont really wanna get the game and then be stuck with lag. I would be playing Multiplayer mostly anyways.
I have vowed to never buy another blizzard game again, but if they redeem themselves, then I would buy again.

Blah. Screw battle.net the single-player campaigns are what I'm itching for. Oh, and everyone and his brother has vowed never to buy a Blizzard game again, but everyone always does, it's sort of like people who claim to hate certain popular movie-stars or musicians, yet cannot seem to stop talking about them.

I just dont want another D2/LOD. I think wasting $85 once is enough.

This will be the third time I've said it on these forums...
Don't say it unless you mean it.
Saying you'll never buy another blizzard product means nothing unless you stick to it.

And that is the exact crap I'm talking about.
If you vow to never buy another blizzard game again, you can't just take it back.

I have been raving about Warcraft III for a really long time now, I work at a third party site, I have the beta of the game, how can I possibly resist not buying the game? Ok so I'll get to the point, of course I'm going to buy it!
Now I can't say the game is perfect but I'm sure the final version will be much better than the beta, which only contains the multiplayer mode. I can't wait til Blizzard releases the final version but I hope they take their time to make a few changes, most of all the ugly unit restriction of ninety.
Anyway, the game is awesome and yeah, as I clearly stated, I am going to buy the game!

Ninety as a unit restriction isn't that bad, actually I'm starting to hope they don't raise it. having more in an Eight-player game would bring about performance issues. Using the undead's necromancers I already get a few hundred units and it drops my framerate on a GF2 Ultra, and the majority of people have video cards around the mx400 level. I don't really see them raising the unit cap to 200 like Starcraft or other Warcraft games, heh, imagine how insane that would be.

Undecided right now. Probably will buy it just so that I can reminisce about Warcraft and Warcraft 2...some of my favorite games.
A little hesitant though after D2. Will wait till I can try it out as a demo.

There is little chance that the 90 cap will change.
I'll guarantee it's there for performance reasons, like spider figured.

I suppose you can put it that way, but there is an easy solution to the problem. They could slow the game down and make it harder to get resources and build armies. It would add a lot more to the strategy part of the game because you would need more peasants and you would have to build up a bigger base for a successful army. That way every game you play wouldn't result in a rush. They could also stall the heros until you have built a castle, which believe it or not would add to the strategy in Warcraft III as well. So to conclude this I would like to see Blizzard raise the unit restriction in the final game and slow the game down to make it harder as well.

Well you won't get either, so you might as well pick 'no' as the poll answer.

There is know way that I am not going to get War3.

Well you never know, after all the game will surely be a lot better when you can play the single player modes and use the World Editor. Blizzard will obviously change some details and finish adding all the units and buildings. The game will probably have improved a lot when it comes out.

and just wanted to add empire earth allows you to have a max of over 600 units :)

Xtren, I don't think Blizzard would ever have a castle as a requisite to Heroes. It is one of the big innovations of the game and should not go to waste as one of the last units you get. I can see how it can add to strategy, but Blizzard has been working on the Hero concept for far too long to just make it only available late game.

BTW, i voted for yes.
No matter what anyone says about the quality the their games, Blizzards games are always fun when you've got friends to play with. :)

I'm never buying another Blizzard game since they screwed me over on my last deal, so "Never Again"

I said on the pole that I'd buy the game too because all of their other games so far have been good so I figure with all the single player modes Warcraft III will probably be a lot better than it is in the beta. Besides they probablyare going to make a few changes and I'm sure their final product will be the best they can possibly make it.

Blizzard makes fun, buggy games.
But they are still very fun

Once people start cheating in their games (like in Diablo) the games are no fun anymore. Do you think a lot of people will start to hack in Warcraft III when it comes out or will Blizzard try to do more to stop that?
SKYHN
02-27-2002, 07:59 PM
I think WCIII might not have too great of a hacking problem. SC and WCII never really had problems with hacking, not to a point where it put a damper on the game. The most common hack with the 2 was the map hack, and even with it you still had to have some skill to win.
Spider
02-27-2002, 08:09 PM
I think there will always be cheating in every game. If you're that concerned about it, play private games with people you trust.
Bobaroo
02-28-2002, 03:53 PM
I only play private games so I never have to worry about hackers.
It is fun to beat someone who is hacking though, makes them feel even worse then a normal loss:D

I did like most of the other Blizzard games that I have played so I think the final version of Warcraft III will improve on the beta version quite a bit and I think I will buy the game as soon as possible.

It's fun to play any game but Warcraft III is one that Blizzard has been raving about for a very long time and it is supposed to be a bigtime success when it comes out. I'm gonna trust Blizzard on this one.

I will buy WarCraft3 when it comes out. I enjoy playing the beta and things can only get better.

You're right about "things can only get better". I don't know if the beta is great right now but the final version of the game, with the singleplayer campaigns and the World Editor ought to be awesome.

I will probably buy the game when it comes out, as most of my friends are getting it. The game is more fun when you play with friends.

Yeah, it is deffinitely better to play with friends than with people you don't know, or at least I think so too.

I hope WC3 doesn't turn out to be another D2 in that when you go on everyone uses hacks to dupe, map hack, etc. D2 was ruined because of that and it was no fun at all.

Yeah, I agree with thatIt was the same story with the original Diablo. Then again, in most cases RTS games have less cheating than RPGs.

I won't be bothering with WC3 when it comes out.
I'm still ticked a blizz over the bnetd thing.
WoW is a maybe.
if neither supports opengl instead of the evil empires d3d garbage, then
it's a no brainer. won't get either one.

I will probably buy two copies of the game, well maybe just one. I got a Dad and a brother who play video games all the time and I never have a chance to get on the computer when a new game comes out, so for graduation my parents bought me a Laptop and I will get that hooked to the internet and play War3 online whenever I want and play single player whenever I want. =)

Well our family only has one computer. I don't have any brothers or sisters though, and my parents barely ever use it, so basically I have the computer all to myself whenever I want.

The game is going to be worth getting, I'll tell you that. I thought even the beta was great, so the game, with all the new additions, should be awesome.
