Lets just get right to it here.
Things I like;
The log on screen, much better for a home computer.
Start bar has links to x number of last used programs.
Compatibility mode to run things that don't run under Win2k.
In beta for it hasn't crashed for me one time yet.
Things I don't like;
The default groupings on the control panel.
IE6? The buttons are too damn big!
Outlook Express 6 starts MS Instant Messenger every time you start it!
Not too much b*tching there, only one I can't live with or change is the stupid MSIM thing and I'm sure there's a way to stop it, I just don't know it yet.

well i wont be considering XP at all for the computers im in charge of at work for the simple fact that MS is doing behind the scenes updates. cant test to see if all the software we have works with the new patches before deploying them to the entire network. that is a HUGE drawback at the level im doing MS at. cant have the hospital network implode because the latest version of MSIM gets uploaded to our comps and crashes because we dont have sound card in the server.... we are still running on NT4 SP5 and plan on going to win2k for the server end of summer when our accounting software vendor is done testing win2k SP1 for any problems. with auto updateing in a business environment it is pretty much a no-sale to me. i would like to see MS continue the same style updates that win2k use and nt use. i like MS i like their stuff but i dont relish the idea of automatic updates. i dont want to dload the chinese keyboard layouts on my comp against my will which will then make muse crash into my monitor and hijack my ram chips then demand i apologize for it...

I don't know how the final product will handle this, but in the beta if you let it do it's thing it will download the updates for you. It'll then flash a blinky thing in the systray and tell you it's downloaded so you can install it at any time. There is also an option to NOT have it download the updates automaticly as well, but like I said, this is just the beta so far, only Bob knows what the retail release will bring...

Windows XP rocks!!! For me it was super stable. I was installing a game and explorer crashed....The game did not quit installing and explorer opened itself back up and worked fine. The olny problem I had was changing hardware configurations too much...Like adding a new motherbaord or overclocking me processor and it locked me out. Also no support for netbeui.

I never had one problem with it at all, but now I'm using Win95 with the DarkStep shell. Looking for something a little bit different...
