If you haven't yet, run Windows update as there have been several fixes for gaming compatability released.
Also, make sure you have administrative rights when you're trying to play games.
There is a Windows 2000 tool that might help you if nothing else will however. Here's a snip:
Apcompat tool
Windows 2000 comes with a utility which can force many applications to believe they are running on an Operating System other than Windows 2000. Although not perfect, this utility can help you to install/run many applications in Windows 2000. Take the following steps to use the Windows 2000 Application Compatibility utility.
- Insert your Windows 2000 CD. Open the Support folder on the CD.
- Double click the APCOMPAT.EXE file. This will load the Application Compatibility utility.

- In the Start the following program tab enter the location of the setup/executable file you wish to run.
- Select the Operating System you need to use, e.g. Windows 98.
- Click Ok to attempt to run the program.
Hopefully that will help you out.

The simplest of two or more solutions is preferable. Explanation and solutions for problems should first be attempted in terms of what is already known. -OckHam's Razor
