I am trying to network 2 comps to play Starcraft. They see each other in Network Neighborhood, but not when I try to play the game. I checked to see if the ipx protocol is installed and it is. Any suggestions??

Well, now the comps are seeing each other but when I try to join the game, it says unable to join game and then the game dissapears, any suggestions?

Have you made sure that both of you have the same version of StarCraft running? Maybe one is patched and one is not.

Are you able to access and copy files across the network with just IPX installed? Also, what are the system specs for both computers?(OS, How much memory,etc.) If we know what you're both using, we can offer more help.

For now, check for updated drivers for your network card(s). Also, shut down all extra programs. Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and only leave systray, explorer, and point32 if you have it. Disable any firewalls or other network security programs as well if it's just you and him conected to each other.

Ok, here we go..
Comp 1- 10 gigs hard drive, Windows 98, 256 Ram,
Comp 2- 10 gigs hard drive, Windows 98, 32 Ram
You are right, I can see the other comp in Network Neighborhood, but I dont see any files whatsoever, just the comp. I am new at this so I really dont know how to do anything. Also I believe comp 1 might have had a firewall before, but it crashed on Monday, I dont know if that makes a difference. If it does have a frewall or network security, I dont know how to disable, so please help. One thing that is strange though, if I put the full version on comp 1 and make game, nothing shows up on comp 2 with the spawn version, but if I put the full version on comp 2 and the spawn on comp 1, the name of the game will show up, even though as I said before it says I am unable to join game. I dont know if that helps any. Thanks for all your help both of you.

If you still can't get it working after looking that FAQ over, post back with the system specs of both computers and we'll look into some other causes.
