The CD won't work if it has a big hole in it. Get a new one.

Try cleaning your Brood War CD with a clean, dry cloth ... also get a CD cleaner and clean your CD-ROM drive. Then try again.
If it still does not work, then you may have a defective CD. Go back to the store you bought it from and get an exchange of another CD.

Canis, your advice won't work because his copy is a burned copy from my original CD, which was broken too - OTS fixed the problem.
There's a big hole in your CD, Bobby oops i mean Bobaroo330. ML told me.

Ouch ... may need to burn him a copy again, it seems http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/wink.gif
And I won't even ask where the CDkey to make it work was procured from... http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/wink.gif

this is a blizzard support staff. You guys better stop with the burning. Have it stop, or we'll make it stop. Goodbye.

Hmmm, CD burning is hardly controllable, and I am more concerned about where they got the CD Key rather than how they burned a copy.
Anyway, I am sure the warning is well-merited - but next time, don't pretend to be something you're not (i.e. blizzard support staff).
Unless you meant that "we" are the blizzard support staff, which we aren't either.

Only Diablo is meticulous about two people having the same CD key. Bobaroo330, other people, and I have been using the same CD key for awhile now and B.net doesn't seem to mind.

Doesn't change the fact that technically what you are doing is software piracy.

He was hardly yelling. It was a request to not impersonate Blizzard empployees. If he was yelling it would look like this..QUIT IMPERSONATING BLIZZARD EMPLOYEES! http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/smile.gif
Running a site that focuses on tech support requires a degree of professionalism to keep the site organized. If this place turned into a Warez fest, then not only does the site risk getting into trouble with companies such as Blizzard, it also loses its credability.

1.) We do not condone warez, software piracy and phreaking discussions of any kind. Granted a lot of people do it, but we prefer that they keep it to themselves and not let everyone know and start a discussion about its merits.
2.) The remark I made to NFested about burning another copy was intended as friendly sarcasm, not an actual suggestion.
3.) I have never "yelled" at anybody in this forum. I HAVE reprimanded some people, but it was always in a formal and frank (if not friendly) manner.
4.) I have no problem with burning CDs - that's what CD-burners are for, after all. But breaking copy protection (like obtaining illegal CD keys) is tantamount to software piracy, and I DO have a problem with that.
5.) This topic has no actual use anymore so I will go ahead and close it.
