well ever since i got my new PC i haven't been able to create games on b.net in SC: BW. I'd go throuhg the create screen, and then the room would load, but whenever someone tried to join my game SC would freeze, does anyone know why?

When your game freezes, is it a hard lock prompting you to reboot? Or does it kick you out to desktop after a while? Do you have problems "joining" games?

Try uninstalling the game, then do a complete scandisk/defrag of your system. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card and video card (I know it's a new computer, but it might not have the latest drivers yet). Also make sure you use Windows Update and download all the critical and recommended updates.

What computer specs do you have, like the sound card, video card, CD-ROM, etc.? Let us know so that we can pinpoint where the possible problem may be. If you don't know your system specs, download "mypcinfo.exe" from the link below:
http://www.opentechsupport.net/downloads/utilities/mypcinfo.exe

Run it and it will tell you your system specs (if you're using a PC, that is).

After you've made sure you got the latest drivers/updates and completely scanned and defragged, reinstall StarCraft/BroodWar and download/install the patch from Blizzard's website instead of letting Battle.Net automatically update it for you.

Okay so i created and i'm waiting in the game room, then when someone tries to join the game SC itself will freezes, my mouse won't move and i can't type in the chat, i can't alt-tab out of it but i can ctr-alt-del it. I can join games fine. I'm not sure whether we have the most updated drivers right now.

Okay, do what I suggested in an earlier post:

1.) Go to your game folder and delete bncache.dat. Make sure to do this offline and not while you're in Battle.Net.

- if the game still freezes, do this:

2.) Uninstall StarCraft/BroodWar and Battle.Net from START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. Do a complete scandisk/defrag. Then reinstall the game again, and be sure to download the patch from Blizzard's site, as opposed to letting Battle.Net update it automatically. Check this link:
http://www.blizzard.com/support/starcraft/information/patch.shtml
Download the patch and apply it.

- if the game still freezes, do this:

3.) Who did you buy your computer from? Maybe their website has the latest drivers for your video card and sound card. If not, check these sites out and download the latest drivers based on your hardware:
http://support.ati.com/drivers/3drageII+.html
(I was supposed to put in a link to the Crystal Soundfusion drivers, but I forgot their website)

- If the game still freezes, try this:

4.) Go here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and click on "Product Updates" .. and download all the Critical and Recommended Updates.

- if the game still freezes, do this:

5.) Post back on this forum if you continue to have problems.
