View Full Version : Grrrrr zerg vs toss

11-28-2000, 09:08 AM
Ok so I'm zerg and one of my opponents is toss on Temple. I am doing fine even though my ally is having some problems expanding. I attack my toss opponent with lings hydras and some lurkers, but he survives.
My problem comes when he getrs shuttles and Reavers despite all my efforts he still manages to drop in my base behind the mins. Is there any way to defend this? Sunkens dont work and lurkers get kiled by the splash damage. Putting hydras back there is a waste since he will lose at most one shuttle and the first reaver will kill them all anyway once it lands. Plz help.

I have noticed you don't use mutas ... any reason why not? Muta air support is pretty vicious if used right, and the collateral damaghe on ground units are considerable if mutas are in packs...

That's easy http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/biggrin.gif hehe...Like Laggy said, muta work wonders in packs and ever thought of devourers and guardians? A mixed attack and defense is the best kind. When you are defending, it's always best to have a few buried lurkers in the back with some sunkens and Spores and then some air defense also. When you attack, drop some guys, attack with some air and attack with some land..Always have a mixture, especially.. and you don't always want to attack the front, because that is easy to storm the hell out of you, so you always want to drop a few guys off and have some guardians/muta/devourers to back them up.

Keep ground defence behind ur mins to a minimal, and more anit air. Using a mixture of both spore colonies and sunkens can really keep you from getting reaver drops. In a map like temple, this is especially important.

Also, when he attacks, burrow.

He'll only kill the ones near the hive with splash.

Heh.

Your best defense against a drop is to eliminate the the ability to drop. Gotta hunt those shuttles. That's harder for zerg to do than terran or protoss, but it can be done. Send a few mutas and hydras on patrol around your preimeter to catch those shuttles as they come in. As soon as a shot is fired, you're going to notice it, and move in more forces to hit the shuttle. If he's any kind of decent player, he's going to evacuate his shuttle when he sees mutas in the air, already having intercepted him.
