Re: Problems with my X-Box?
I used to get this problem all the time, I still do intermittently though. I opened up my xbox and did everything other than totally dismantling it and scrapping it.
I'm not sure if you'll want to follow my example if you still have a valid warranty because it will void it, but here we go: First step is to take the cover off of the box, you have to remove some screws under the stickers on the bottom (microsoft likes to be sneaky). Step two is to lift the hard drive and its plastic shell out of the case. Third is to take a can of compressed air and blow all the dust that collects on the board and power supply out. Fourth Step is to reassemble the bugger. Fifth Step is to buy a cd lens cleaner and/or a dvd lens cleaner and use them to clean off the grime that can collect on the lens.
While all of this is pretty time consuming it only costs like 30 bucks for both of the lens cleaners and they can be used multiple ties. I suggest using them only when the disc read error shows up though otherwise you can do unnecessary damage to your cd/dvd drive. However I do suggest cleaning all the gunk off the motherboard about once a month just because the xbox seems to have serious heat problems every once in a while.
