Re: Why The Price?
well $400 is good, here in New Zealand consoles new usually are $999RRP to start then come down $700 then abt $100 a month or so after that, then usually sit $399 until about 3 Xmas's, then finally go $199 when it becomes the predecessor.
Secondly the price compared to a PC, GPU's r used i agree but 360 doesnt have support for s/w such as full web software, office, server options etc etc. I think of consoles now as gaming and media consoles, e.g XBox 1.1-1.6 with XBMC. This feature was picked up on by m$ using MCE/Media Connect and so on. I've tried various ways to connect the 360 to a PC but you gotta have MCE, not even opensource MCE similarities.
The key to Microsoft is: Use only our software and hardware, it is uncompatible otherwise, we provide the best, all procedures must be within law, third parties and EULA (XP's EULA able to pretty much virtually control and own your PC) are our first ammendent. This is the reason people hack M$ XB bioses and the like. M$ is a greddy corporation, but then again so are Apple when it came to ITunes, IPod, ICast etc the Apple Co. said it wouldnt enter the music biz in an agreement with Apple Records back in the day now look at the battle in court.
It's all about the Benjamins and the other president's head's, no matter what country you live in, the USA is the world dictator.
