VGA switcher problems [Solved]

I'm not 100% sure what is failing here I have a few ideas but I'll save them until the end of the post.
I recently accquired a 360 and seeing as I have a nice 19" monitor promptly got a vga cable and run the 360 on that unplugging the cable from the monitor whenever I want to use my Pc.
Now I thought I'd buy a 2 port VGA switcher to use as this would make things alot smoother and easier for me. Now upon using this switcher the 360 displays on the monitor when plugged into the switcher, the PC however does not want to display on the monitor when plugged into the switcher.
Now I thought huh maybe one of the Switchers ports is bad...Nope PC won't work on either. If you switch the PC on before the 360 or after doesnt work either. I think the problem could possibly be the fact I use a VGA to DVI cable to go into the computer, as in it is VGA at one end and DVI at the other... Scrap all of that just tested it with a VGA to VGA cable and it works fine so I guess I shall just post this for the benefit of others.
VGA TO DVI CABLES DO NOT WORK WITH VGA SWITCHES!
