Experience with Best Buy
Best Buy is having its grand opening here in Toronto tomorrow. I think its the first store they have in Canada. Anways, I was just wondering what experiences you guys have with Best Buy. From the commercial, it looks like Future Shop, with all the computers and tech toys and stuff.
But are they like Future Shop? Where the prices on anything is higher than most other places and the only reasonable deal you can get out of them is through rebates and on specialty items that are on sale. Since most of you guys go shopping there, I just wanna see if its worth checking out.

We just had one open here in Boise a couple months back. I've bought a couple things there. They are just like Futuer Shop and Circuit City.
I did buy my tv there about a month ago because they had it on sale and it was the best price I'd seen it for.

Although, I almost never buy computer hardware from there unless it's a monitor. Component prices are higher than reputable places on the net.

Yes.
theyre good for sales, and if you just want to pick up something at full price quickly. but they certainly dont have the best prices otherwise.

Best buy is great. My favorite place to go for games and dvds. Got a great deal on my dvd player as well. All in all, you cant go wrong with Best Buy unless you are lookin for computer parts other than monitors (as Kane said)
*misses best buy alot* (my town doesnt have one)
First thing I do when I go home for Thanksgiving is get over to Best Buy, Disc Replay (local used music store) and FuncoLand.
Ahh, the memories

Guess info from my last post was far from accurate. The closes one to me would be Leaside, which is coming soon.
Edit: Oh yeah, thanks for whoever moved this thread.

I have bought several things from Best Buy, I just recently replaced a burnt out monitor with a 19 inch MAG monitor (paid 149.95 after rebate)
One of the neat things is (at least in the U.S.) their 30 day price guarantee. If you find the item you bought go on sale for a lower price (even if it goes on sale at Best Buy) withing 30 days of your purchase, Best Buy will meet that sale price via refunds or manufacturer rebates.
Example, I bought my Linksys router there for 79.95 (on sale, it is normally 89.95).
Next weekend Circuit city had it on sale for 59.95. I went to Best buy with the Circuit City ad and they gave 10.00 cash and a rebate from the manufacturer for another 10.00.
Next week Micro computers had it on sale for 49.95, went back to Best buy and they refunded another 10.00
The end result I got the Linksys router for 49.95.

I'll shop at Best Buy periodically. I can find my DVD's there easier than at Circuit City and I've never heard of Future Shop. Don't think we have one of those around here. Although I agree that they don't have the best prices elsewhere. If it comes to computer hardware I'll either buy it from a local shop for cheaper or I'll go to Circuit City first, but then again since I have friends that work there I get an employee discount. ;Þ

Future Shop is a Canadian chain. They used to be in the U.S., but pulled out of most of their stores.
We also have a Ultimate Electronics, but they mainly sell car audio and home theater stuff. No music or dvds.
