that would be 60% off the regular price of 79.99. that would indicate something is very wrong. theyd be selling below cost, which is never good.

Most likely, but for $30 you can always give it a shot.

For 30$, buy it, ditch the drive, and keep Nero that comes with it. That's the cheapest you'll ever find Nero for.
Oh, and I make it a habit to not trust companies that name themselves fun things like "HI-VAL"

"This version of Nero will only work with Hi-Val drives."
I've seen it happen with other brands, I wouldn't take the chance.

They sometimes put in the normal retail version too, but you won't know until after you tried it...

I bought Nero for $15 and it works great! It was an earlier version, but you can always free upgrade at the ahead site. If anyone wants me to find the site, let me know cause I'll have to look up the receipt at home for the site name.

When I worked at CompUSA, Hi-Val products are brand name products in a Hi-Val box. You could buy their 10x DVD at the time for 49.99 and it was the 149.99 Pioneer slot 10x drive.
I will check with some of my old co-workers there, and have them look to see what kind it is. The front plate will look different, but you can look at the manufacturer and model number on top of the drives.
