Is this online purchase for real?

winxp pro for 50$

http://www.softforfree.biz/?corroboree

is there a ms site that verifies the legitimacy of online retailers of windows?

edit: maybe this should go in consumer reports section.

it sounds real enough. if you read the FAQ area it says the reason why it is so cheap. but then again, lots of things on the net sound too good to be true....

If you can afford the $50 I'd say go for it, does say "money-back guarantee". In the past year or so I've probably spent close to $1500 on things from the internet and have never had a problem with anything I've bought.

eh, something is fishy. thats less than half price of even OEM windows. and MS prohibits the sale of OEM software on its own, it must be accompanied by hardware. when you add in the free shipping via air, and they sales commission they pay, well, lets just say I wouldnt drink from that well unless I was dying of thirst.

oh my....

"How can you sell this software so cheap? It seems to good to be true - is there a catch?

There is no catch - the software versions that we sell are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) which means you will receive the installation CDs only (they do not come in their original retail packing and do not include the manual). We do guarantee that all programs are the 100% full working retail versions - no demos or academic versions! When you order, you will receive all materials required for a complete installation - or your money back! Why pay hundreds dollars more when you can get exactly the same but cheaper? You don't have to pay that much for the fancy box and manuals.

This software is recognized as a backup software. "

back away slowly.........

Sounds to me like it's a way to bust people who want to basically rob Microsoft.

nah, stings have to be much more obviously illegal. if someone thinks theyre buying something legally, there is no crime on their part. unless i miss my guess, that is an overseas company selling either bootlegs, or corporate that you need to purchase a seperate license for. probably located in china or something ^^

Ahh, that makes sense. Either way, I don't like it, but I do like the prices...

most colleges will sell the acedemic version quite cheaply. occasionally , its free

ahem.....one of the terms of their antitrust suit settlement with the government involved "donating" products to schools, presumably a university would qualify.

Ocean if you have the money for it go for it.... Myself I would much rather pay $50 for something and not get it etc... than pay full price and not get it.
