Wouldnt it be nice if the word "Retail" didnt exist.

I like how the whole thing is a fancy way of saying 'We have sales, sales lose us money, we want money'.

I used to work for one of the largest grocery store chains in the world, maybe the largest.

They never ordered enough of the sale items so they could try to move other merchandise; to me this was cheating the customers. If you have a sale there should be plenty of the sale items so people would go away satisfied. If you don't want to sell something at or below cost, don't advertise it.

A lot of people buy sale items to survive; now that I'm disabled I know exactly how they feel.

The only customers I really didn't like were the rich people, talk about wanting something for nothing, panhandlers have nothing on rich people.

i think its a legit practice, i have been ****ed over by circuit city so much in my lifetime with high prices, rebates that NEVER go through. crappy sales people that tell me i am getting one thing and i buy it, take it home, and open the manual only to find it doesnt have the feature. they rip off all the old people in my family that i have no guilt about ripping off their dumbass sales associates. it doesnt bother me to rent stuff from there.

other stores are fine though. surprisingly, sears has good service as far as im concerned.

Well thing is we have to look at it from this view point; they are out to make a profit. The consumer just happens to be a most essential tool in making that profit. They are not out to please the consumer per se. If the consumerr were really "king" then we would be the one setting the prices of goods and services we receive. since we dont directly set the prices then we have to be happy with what we get.

nothing wrong with making a profit. but when you decide to ask a customer not to return, or discourage them, because youre not making sufficient money from them, somethings wrong. if a business puts something on sale, the public has every right to take advantage of that. they need to honor whatever sales they advertise, including rebates, to the letter. if they lose money, id say they should be holding less sales, not discouraging frequent customers.........

This is actualy called "bait and switch" it is illegal but tricky to nail the retailer with it. I once caught best buy doing it once though, and wound up getting a $250 stereo for $150 when the advertized item ran out of stock in about 6 hours.
