Question Question on alienware desktops

Hello to all. I was brought to this site as I was searching for feedback on alienware desktops. I stumbled on 2 threads here warning poeple of alienware products. Having decided to keep an open mind I looked deeper into all these complaints and found many more. It would seem though that most of teh problems occured on alienware laptops and not desktops. My question is to all of you who have an alienware desktop, and who use it and game with it, what problems have you encountered, and how does technical support help you in solving problems?
I know many of you will tell me to build my PC as it would be the best thing especially for a gaming PC, and that is one solution I have left open, but I would rather buy a pre-built system so that I can have technical support if anything goes wrong.
Any help would greatly be appreciated, as I find myself currently without a PC, and I have to make up my mind rather quickcly. Thanks again in advance!

Re: Question on alienware desktops

All i can say is i bought a laptop from them. Ypu might not find this useful because your looking for a desktop, but anyway, here goes. Two months and had to send it back after about 8 hours with tech support on different days. They sent me a new HDD, did not fix it. They charged my account and have not fixed the charge. i am really not happy with them and their politics. the computer was very expensive. thats my experience.

Re: Question on alienware desktops

Thanks for your reply. That is just insane. I am sure that i can say that if that happenned with your laptop, the sam service will be applied to my desktop. So their customer services and technical support is horrible.... That just sucks cause that is teh only reason I am buying one rather then building it. I might go for an overdrive PC or an abs.

Does naybody know of anything negative for any of those 2 companies??

Re: Question on alienware desktops

I never buy desktops from companies. From what I've heard, Alienware's service and support is just completely downright horrible. And that 9 times out of 10, you'll have to send your PC back after first receiving it. However, in one of the threads you probably stumbled on, someone mentioned that on other forums, it's the other way around.

Not aware of anything bad about ABS or Overdrive. I recommend ABS if you're going to buy from either of those two.

Re: Question on alienware desktops

I have been looking at those 2 for a bit this morning and seem I just can 't decide. One thing for sure though, I will not b egetting an alienware.

Why woudl you say ABS is better? Just getting an aoutside opinion since I have not looked into that company as much yet.

Yeah, but service at every company sucks..... a friend of mine has an alienware and he loves it.... he also paid an arm and leg for it.

Re: Question on alienware desktops

I like ABS better because they group their hardware better in order to get more performance. Plus I've read better reviews about their computers.

Re: Question on alienware desktops

What if someone were to offer custom-built gaming rigs for SIGNIFICANTLY less than alienware? Would you be willing to accept tech support as "the best that one guy can do"?
