Dell is Awesome
Anyone who is interested in buying a new computer should consider Dell. I recently ordered from them and had great customer support. The phone person was nice, and I received the computer 5 days after I ordered it (customized PC's take longer). Best of all, since they did not include the Free CD-RW I ordered, they are sending a free one to me! Now I have a CD-ROM and a CD-RW as opposed to just a CD-RW that was part of my computer package.
Dell is awesome.

First computer I bought was a Dell Dimension XPS-T500 (PIII-500 Katmai) ... ever since then I have started building my own, and gave the Dell to my bro, who has been using it for almost three years now ... still working perfectly

Dell supplies some of our servers here.. when the techs(dell's techs) were on site they were extremely helpful in setting up the servers(kind of wierd when we work with alot of so called "techs" who are the exact opposite)

Dell is awesome, indeed. I have a Dell Dimension 8100 I got this June and it is awesome - although I could have got a much better system for cheaper now, it was worth it and this has been rock solid. I haven't had to use Dell customer support (which is a good thing!) yet, but I'm sure it'd be good as any other computer maker. Rock on!

Dell Desktops are great. I switched to Dell for my company from very bad HP Vectra's and Brio's. We are running Dell OptiPlex GX150's. The cases are great and I love how even though nic, vid, sound, are built onboard it is easy to disable and upgrade. Of course for buisness use this is not needed.
However I do not like thier notebooks. We have CPI's, CPX's, & C800's, and the biggest problems is the screws fall out of the bottem. If you take them apart they seem to be made very cheap.
Now if they only had an AMD solution!!!

AMD will never pass DELL's quality testing. We all know Intel is paying them money or giving them a discount to use intel chips. Not to mention, if your wnating a new computer, and you have basic computer knowledge, you can build a machine that will kick any intel processor powered machines arse, for extremely cheap compared to those crap intel computers.
Although, I must admit one thing, a P4 is good for setti crunching, and EQ since it uses buggy arse umbra, but thats it.
INTEL = EVIL
AMD = GOOD
I could go on and on, and eventually tie microsoft, AOL, time warener, and Nvidia all in one massive conspiracie to rule the world, but I'd rather not since the men in black coats would come and take me away for saying to much...

The Dell desktops are great.
Got my Dell dimension XPS 866r in May of 2000, I have only had to call tech support a few times, and I was impressed by how quickly they solved the problem, and they did so without having to reinstall windows 98SE.
First problem was a non functioning SB live value sound card upon initial setup. They diagnosed the problem quickly over the phone and performed an on site repair within 48 hours.
The other problems were not hardware related, instead they were:
Problems after installing the detonater 5.08 drivers during the D2 Beta. Problem was there origianl 4.73 drivers were in a compress file that needed to be uncompressed before I could reinstall the old drivers.
Problem with the partial install of IE 5.5 from microsofts site that left me with no usable IE. They helped me reinstall 5.01, and disable the computer wanting to complete the 5.5 installation.
I wish I could say the same for my, and the company I worked for experiences with there laptops.
First laptop I had had 2 MB failures in the first 45 days of use. Also had problems updating the sound card drivers. Also had problems with Hard Drive (replaced) and the Modem/Nic combination plug in card having been over heated (literally melting part of the card).
The company I worked for experienced a 20% failure rate on the Dell laptops.
Of course that was almost two years ago, and maybe they have since fixed the quality control and or hardware problems they had with their laptops.
The company I worked for also purchased quite a few Dell desktops and had no problems with them.

AMD chips are far better than Intel, thats a fact and Dell are so far up Intel and Microsux arse they refuse to sell them.
Bad quality machines + laughable customer service = CRAPPY DELL

Shaggy,
There is no sense in flaming without something to back it up. Tell me you have actually owned a Dell and had problems and I might take you more serious.

I know Dell
Sorry my bad.
I am a computer tech and we fix Dell computers. Our company has the contract for this area.
I work on them alot so I know what they are like.
The desktops are not too bad... but the laptops are CHEAP!!! Not very well built and built with lower end components.
Sorry if I didn't back up what I said earlier....
