MaximumPC Subscription

I ordered a subscription to this mag in January of this year. Ive never recieved one issue since ordering it. Today I got a bill saying I owe $29.99. It also says I must pay by May 03, 2002. Lastly, it says my subscription starts June 05, 2002.

They also spelled my last name wrong on the bill. Their website has no record of my subscription either, with my last name spelled right or wrong. This sucks.

So screw them, I dont understand why it takes 6 months for a subscription to a Magazine to start. I think Ill just renew my playboy subscription instead.

If you are going to subscribe to MaximumPC, observe caution.

Your not missing much. I've been getting MaxPC since it was still called Boot Magazine. The last years there issues have become pretty lame. More adds, less content, and crap articles.

If I hadn't purchased a 5 year subscription, I would have cancled a long time ago.

True... playboy is the BEST mens magazine.. period.

FHM, Maxim, Stuff et all are weak copies of Playboy.

I subscribe to Playboy and relly enjoy reading it... and yes I mean the articles. My wife reads it too.... its a damn good read

OH yeah... naked babes is not a bad thing..... its a GOOD thing

Yes, they were very good. I miss that mag also. Their sense of humour was entertaining.

Maximum PC was great when they where called boot. I have been getting that mag since issue 1.
Nowadays, they are junk.

PC Gamer was good also...back in 97. It was very thick back then...and well worth the price. I am
thinking that 97 was the heydays of computer mags. I have noticed that fewer and fewer are
gracing the local magazine racks. What is left..is either too thin, or too expensive..or both.

Take Maximum PC. They used to have one of the best CD ROM supplements. Now, it is about
as good as the proverbial AOL CD. So, why pay $9.99 Canadian for it? They don't come without
the CD, and you are paying lots of money for less content. Got to love it.

Take PC Gamer. It is now so thin, that it takes me only approximately 30 minutes to read it cover
to cover. The reviews are junk as well, and advertizing has increased.

Computer Gaming World is still good. Lots of reading in it. Worth the time to read it also.

PC Upgrade is ok. Getting better then Maximum PC. I still have many problems with their "how
to build PC" articles (Their decisions are often peculiar for components).

As you can see...less and less PC gaming mags around worth reading.

Current Subscriptions:
PSM
Maxim(got it free from some thing)
Playboy
Tuff Stuff
Toyfare

Former Mags I had:
Gamepro
EGM
PC Magazine

Gamepro turned to such crap, PC Magazine just got boring and EGM just lost my interest.

I agree, Gamepro is so bad now. All the magazine is is just bunch of ads put together.

I use to have NextGen, but I didn't renew my subscription because they never reported on the things I like. The magazine is defunct now, along with almost every other Imagine Media magazine.

I don't think MaximumPC is that bad. They have cool reviews. I just switched to them from PCWorld. Now PCWorld is crap.
