Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker Review

The TechZone has a review up on the new Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speakers.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better it does. When Logitech introduced the Z-680 speaker system it created one of the best computer sound system ever made. The Z-680 could play anything, sounded amazing and easily earned our Editor's Choice Award. Well Logitech hasn't been resting on their achievement - far from it. Their engineers went back to the drawing board to create the new Z-5500 Digital - Logitech's best speaker system to date.

The Z-5500 Digital is a THX certified speaker system and is targeted at consumers who want the best of the best in sound for their home theater system or PC. With the Z-5500, Logitech creates their most powerful and complete speaker system ever. For DVD nuts, music enthusiasts or hardcore gamers, the Logitech Z-5500 Digital delivers a highly refined and breathtaking 5.1 surround sound experience in the living room, office or home theater. And with 500 watts of power and a 10 inch subwoofer, the Z-5500 Digital is powerful enough to shake the rafters - of the house across the street!

This is a very versatile speaker system, with support for a broad range for formats, including Dolby Digital, DTS and DTS 96/24. Logitech also includes support for up to six inputs and features a new satellite design, a new digital control center and a wireless remote control.

The 6800's are the best value and more than enough IMO. The only problem I can say I have with the 6800's is the control box display is hard to read unless you're looking right at it. The awsome sound helps me forgive this minor inconvenience.

Re: Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker Review

Didnt they change the LCD though when they brought out the new color a while back? Cuz I had seen them a long long time ago, like when they came out, and then I saw them in a store the other day and the LCD seemed different to me.

I cant wait to get them cuz I havent heard a single person complain about them(other than technical problems after a few years, or mfr error out of the box). And I love how it has digital input. Decoding DTS and DD is a bonus, I wanted the 5300's at first til I saw for $61 more I could get the 680's.

How is the bass on them? I like heavy heavy bass.

The base is awsome. I have mine on almost the lowest setting because it's TOO MUCH bass.

Hey now, you can never have TOO much bass

Although a friend of mine has dual 12" 450w RMS MTX 8500 Subs in his car, and that can be a bit much at times.

Heh, even if I had the money, I wouldn't upgrade. It's not that I don't like those speakers, they are much better than mine, but I just bought some Z-540's on an end of line sale for £30. Good deal, for a 4.1 set.

Damn that's a steal for that price. These things sound better than home theatres that sell for over 500$.
