Re: Firefox 1.5 Released

I've been using 1.5 since the first beta and it's pretty good. Only difference I really noticed was the options menu, the update system, and it's a bit faster.

But it is still probably the best browser out there. If you know of one that is better, please share that way each individual user can make their own minds up.

Opera is quite nice, and has been free for awhile. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to make the cookie-handling interface to do the same thing as Firefox (because if I could, I would totally use Opera instead of FF).

I still use IE for my school gmail account.

Of course, Firefox probably may still win just because of GreaseMonkey. I think at work this summer, practically everyone used Mozilla or Firefox, except for the Sales/Hiring people.

I used Opera for a while once. Just seemed so cluttered compared to how compact you can make Firefox. I prefer everything on my screen to be compact.

I'm sure you can customize Opera to run as compactly as Firefox, AND it won't crash every other hour on you like Firefox does.

I've never had Firefox crash on me. Not even when it was in the beta stages.

Re: Firefox 1.5 Released

The only beef I have had with Firefox was increased javascript popups. The noscript extension easily takes care of that though.

Supposedly 1.5 has improved in this area. The noscript extension works well enough for me.

I used to get random popups in Firefox until I got a custom Hosts file from here. I probably could have used Adblock for this, but this way I block ads in IE as well when I have to use it.

Re: Firefox 1.5 Released

from a design perspective i wish everyone would use firefox :P I hate having to make go white space hunting so that graphics look good in IE.

from a user perspective i still have both IE and Firefox loaded, i use firefox for anything that requires me to log in and ie for random browsing and googling
