Western Digital's 200GB "Drivezilla" is about to stomp its way into desktop PCs.
The company began shipping the hard drive--part of its new family of Caviar drives ranging from 120GB to 200GB--in small numbers over the past week. The new machine, which spins at 7,200 revolutions per minute, will soon begin appearing at retail stores and online, and will be available in some new desktop PCs later this quarter.
The drive, which the company nicknamed Drivezilla, will give high-end consumer PCs a whopping 80GB more storage than most now have. The majority of top-of-the-line PCs come with 120GB drives, though most manufacturers offer desktop PCs that can fit two 120GB hard drives in order to offer more data storage capacity.
Drivezilla uses three platters to reach 200GB; the new 120GB drive uses two.
Need a little extra room on your system? This seems to be able to handle the job.
OMG, I want one! I got a 160 gig now on one of my machines. I could add the 200 gig. I already filled 150 gigs. It's got thousands of rap albums, game isoz, movies, software etc.
Yep. I have 2 40s, and I have a hard time filling those up. When I get tired with a game, I delete it. If I have enough digital pictures..I burn a CD and delete the folders.
200GB is just insane. One thing I am sure of though..it might be an all nighter to format that sucker.

Sure is. I lived with a 1.2gig for about a year with no problems of me filling it up. With my new machine I put a maxtor 40 gig and I have no clue how Im gonna fill that one up.
I have a friend who does alot of video edititing and he filled up a new 60 gig hd in a matter of weeks. He was going out to buy a 120gig and I thought that was insane.
Filling 200 GB isn't a problem at all. Like said before, video editing takes up a lot of space, but I can think of more ways to fill it than just that.
