New Motherboard Different Motherboard Chipset

I HAVE A PRIMARY 80GIG hard drive with Windows XP HOME EDITION FULL EDITION, AND A 120 GIG SECONDARY HARD DRIVE. I AM GOING TO GET A Chaintech - 9VJL5 - Socket 478 ATX Motherboard with Audio, AGP8X/4X, USB 2.0, Serial ATA, WOR, WOL, Hyper-Threading Capable, and 10/100Mbps Ethernet LAN Support. MOTHERBOARD THE CHIPSET IS DIFERENT. THE QUESTION I HAVE IS BY INSTALLING THE HARD DRIVES WITH THE OPERATING SYSTEM ONTO THE MOTHERBOARD SHOWN ABOVE WOULD I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.

MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS cmtyulty@earthlink.net so that I can get faster results.

Hello

Hello

Depending on the operating system you are using you could keep the operating system on the hard disk

If it is windows 98, then doing this on another board may be impossible, and very time consumming, but you will get results at the end, all you will need to do is re install over windows 98.

If it is windows me, then this is a lot easer but you still may have to reinstall windows me over it.

Now windows xp is a lot easer to change from one board to another all you have to do is boot windows xp setup from the cd not hard disk, and follow the on screen instructions and you want to put windows in the same directory and do not format the partition, and you want to try and repair the operating system found on the hard disk, DO NOT CHOOSE INSTALL FRESH COPY THIS WILL RENDER ALL YOUR PROGRAMS USELESS, AND ALL YOUR PERSONAL SETTINS.

I hope this helps

Regards

Andrew

you will need to reinstall windows onto your system drive on the first boot.

You shouldn't have any problems, but you will need to install the correct motherboard drivers (chipset etc).

If it is a new motherboard, you should have a CD with all the required drivers and software. If not, you can download them from the Chaintech website:

Hope this helps.
