dma quit working on hard drive
there are a number of things that could be causing my issue, and i am getting frustrated. first of all there is a broken pin on the back of the drive, but it works fine (except for dma). when i try to check any drive to enable dma i get an unsupported hardware message, however dma remains checked after reboot (except on the hard drive). i installed numerous ide drivers to no avail. also there is no dma reserved for the hard drive controller, only for direct mem controler on 4 and floppy controller on 2. device manager says all devices are working properly, bios is set to ultra dma, however i am unsure about my other bios settings. also i changed the jumper a couple times on the hard drive and can't remember where it should be. right now it is set to master or single drive, under cable select the puter wouldnt boot. (does this mean my cable is bad?) in bios acces mode is set to lba because that is what the drive says on it. should there be a dma reserved for the hard drive controller even if the hard drive may be broken?
