PCI-E isnt worth the hassle if your current system is fairly new. Or if you dont have more than $1000 to spend on a new system.
As for costs, should be about the same as when AGP came out, or a bit higher. I know the GeForceFX 6950 PCI-E is gonna be $499 to $599. Asus nForce4 will probably be about $175ish, about the same for Intel boards. If you plan on getting a PCI-E mobo and vid card, most likely all the nForce4 mobos will be socket 754 for the new AthlonXP's, not sure about Pentiums. Its unknown weither the nForce4 will be DDRII only or backwards compatable with DDR, it would suck if it wasnt because DDRII is a rip. The nForce4 also might have the 2 PCI-E video slots too so that you could run dual video card setups, not sure though if that will be standard though. Most likely not.
Ive been anticipating PCI-E for a very long time now and have had about $1200 waiting for it. I need everything except optical drives, hard drives and a case.
