Temp too high for Athlon XP 1700?

I have an Athlon XP 1700 on a ECS K7S5A motherboard and it usually runs about 117 Degrees Fahrenheit. My ystem temp is about 86 degrees. Perhaps I need a better cpu fan or thermal paste?

That temp's not too bad. Unless your computer is locking up or doing other wacko things that would be temperature related, I wouldn't worry about it.

47 degrees is perfectly acceptable.

Just for good measure I might put some Arctic Alumina on the cpu, it has been lagging/ temporarily stopping in certain games. Thanks for the input.

If you're going to replace the thermal paste, make sure you completely clean off the present stuff with high-purity Isopropyl rubbing alcohol

Re: Temp too high for Athlon XP 1700?

My Athlon XP 2000+ averages between 116-126F, so that is a decent temperature for an Athlon XP.

yep, slightly on the high end of middle, but under danger levels. 130 degrees is where you should start giving a damn. dont worry till 135
