Red face Western Digital 160 hd

I have a Western Digital 160 MB Hard Drive. The problem is that when loading Windows XP SP1 in the format screen there is only 32MB that can be formatted. If I use Western Digital Date Recovery Disk, this shows 160MB which I can format in ntfs then I tried to load up Windows XP SP1 and still shows only 32MB. Is there any work around or fix?

Re: Western Digital 160 hd

Hello

Well yes, but the windows installer has a problem with harddisks over 120 meg, the way around this would be to get a dos disk and boot up from it, then run fdisk and first you will have to delete the partition then create a new one full size, then after it has finish keep the floppy in then reload dos then format the harddisk, ignore the size it detects, when finish just start xp install again from cd then when it finds the disk say LEAVE THE PARTITION ALONE AND INSTALL WINDOWS ON IT.

Regards

Andrew

Also i use fdisk all the time, and i use partition magic
