Exclamation max cpu for a Compaq Presario 5000us mainboard?

Yo, i have a problem, i have a amd duron 1.35ghz just laying on my desk because i dont know if it will run in my mainboard(which is a standard compaq presario 5000us main board)...does anyone know where to find a guide to the max cpu's for motherboards? or happen to have had this problem before and can shed some light on the subject? i would REALLY appreciate the help......trying to get a good secondary pc for network games
Compaq Presario 5000US
Windows XP
Micro atx mainboard w/unknown specs(can't find them)
64mb sdram
8mb Nvidia TNT2 Vanta LT Graphics card

If your motherboard has a 13.5 multiplier jumper, then I would say yes. It may not get detected properly without a BIOS update though but will probably still work. Just make sure the voltage jumper is set correctly for the new CPU.

If your motherboard is jumperless, then the new CPU may not work at the higher speed without a BIOS update. (But will still probably work).

Your best option is to get in touch with HP tech support. They should know what the board can support. Even if it does work, the board may not be designed to operate reliably at that clockspeed.
