Re: how do u dual channel ur memory

Have two sticks of RAM (ideally the same size and matched) and put them in the slots the MOBO manual tells you to.

-----------------------------
Athlon 64 3500
MSI K8T800
2GB (Dual channel) DDR400 RAM
XFX 7900GS 256MB
Acer X201 20" TFT
SB Audigy & P5800 Speakers
80 & 320Gb WD Caviar SE HD
Samsung 20xDVDRW x2
Antec True Blue 480W
512k ADSL through Wireless Router
Windows XP Pro SP3

Re: how do u dual channel ur memory

Many mobos these days only do dual channel and most that are dual channel capable will automatically turn the dual channel feature on. If it is only dual channel capable and only 1 chip is present or the second is in the incorrect slot, the computer will stop booting during POST.

Re: how do u dual channel ur memory

Usually if there are two colors of dimm slots you want your identical chips on the same color - rarely do motherboard manuals differ

Re: how do u dual channel ur memory

No. The settings should be automatic. My Gigabyte mobo is also single channel capable, but only if there is only one memory chip present or if there are 3. It's unusual though. It is meant to be virtually foolproof. The color coordination is usually pretty universal now. Look for the labels on the PCB next to the slots with the lowest numbers and put them in there unless you are filling all the slots.
