XFX first out at newegg with 256mb 8800GT

This could be a really interesting upper middle row / high alternative to Radeon HD 3870. At least as long as one runs 1280 x 1024 or 1400 x 900 native resoloution or there about. 40$ cheaper than the cheapest Radeon HD 3870 too. And same gpu clock as the 8800GT 512mb.

There is a factory oc'ed version too.

But not that interesting, as the cheaper cards of the 8800GT 512mb just costs about 40 bucks more.

And you always have the option to oc the cheaper and 50Mhz slower, standard XFX 8800GT 256mb to about the same speed as the oc'ed one.

So now, the cheaper DX 10 cards with good performance starts to line up. But if you want a 8800GT 256mb for christmas? Order NOW! They soon will be out of stock I guess, just as the 8800GT 512mb where for quite some time. The cheaper 8800GT 512mb still is btw.

Performance ranking.

8800GT 512mb about 270$

8800GT 256mb - - 210$

Radeon HD 3870 - - 250$

Radeon HD 3850 - - 180$

And soon it's Christmas time guys! lol.
