Integrated Webcam in Dell Laptops

Hi, I recenly purchased two Dell Laptops for some relatives, I check the webcam that they have integrated and work ok with the program. But when I sign in to messenger the webcam is not working with messenger the error displayed is:
"We couldn't start your camera device. Please check that your camera is not currently in use by another program, and then try again"

Can you help me?

Caracteristics of Laptops are:

Dell Inspiron 1525 and Dell Inspiron 1545.

Hope you can help me how to adjust this in order to be able to chat with the webcam in the messenger.

Are you using the latest version of MSN Messenger? :-/ "If" this is the case and it still don't work, you have a lot of other applications to use instead and some of these programs can use the MSN Messenger protocol just as the MSN Messenger program. Download.com is a good place to start looking.

Other than that you can always install Skype.

Thx for the help Khelben1979 and I'll do it as back up resource, but I would like to make available the webcam in the messenger due my parent is whom is using this laptop and he feel confortable with the messenger and he don't want to learn to use a new program
