Re: Gaming Monitor suggestions

Or if you can stretch the 180 buck budget 4£?

Then you get this with higher res. 2ms responce time and HD.

I have a slightly older 21" Viewsonic myself. And they are good at making monitors too.

Remember that all buildt in monitor speakers sucks more or less. Dont use them!

Use the DVI cable for best image quality.

Re: Gaming Monitor suggestions

Hi

thanks for your replies, they both look very good, is there much difference between Response Time: 5ms and Response Time: 2ms?

Re: Gaming Monitor suggestions

No, not anything you would notice when gaming ( like shooter games) or othervice. Any quality monitor from 8 ms and down are o.k. and wont have any "ghosting" problems.

The real interesting thing about the Viewsonic besides the HD capability is the higher resoloution. This means you can use a low AA setting for the video card, and still have smooth picture.

Also, if you some day go down the SLI or Crossfire setup road? You will get the most out of dual video cards at that res.

You're welcome.

Re: Gaming Monitor suggestions

Ok then I will look at the Viewsonic one.

People have told me that the lower rms means that there is less tears in the screen when the picture is moving can this happen?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Gaming Monitor suggestions

Not very likely with any of the above monitors. My older Viewsonic LCD are 8ms. And I cant see that happend here either. And I play quite many FPS games....with vsync turned off in the control panel on top of that.

It whas a completely different thing with the old 12ms LCD monitors.

Re: Gaming Monitor suggestions

I can actually notice the difference between 8, 6, and 4ms. Anything lower than 4ms I can't tell. But then again I also get sick from the flicker of florescent lighting in an office building that most people don't even see.

From what I have understood, the specifications in ms which is often advertised as (if not always) a lot better than it is. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This would also mean that 8ms would perhaps be 16ms and so on... I think that if those values which you have described here were authentic I don't think you would see any difference.

Re: Gaming Monitor suggestions

Are you just moving it and it looks like you're pressing on it? Or are you pressing on it and it looks like it moves? If it's the latter of the two, then that is normal. It's just like a calculator screen or a laptop screen.
