No power in computer..

I’m trying to help my sister by phone since she lives in another city. She tried to turn her computer on this morning and nothing happened. No power. Her modem is live, her monitor is live; it’s just the computer that has no power. They are all plugged into the same power bar. I had her switch the plugs around and it isn’t a problem with the power bar.

I gave her the computer last year. It’s in good shape and I help her to keep it that way by phone. The power cord is new and it was working fine last night. It just wouldn’t turn on this morning.

What is likely to be the most common reason for this problem? Any replies will be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: No power in computer..

Are there any LED that blink, like the hdd LED? The power switch LED on the case light up or not? Any case fans that start to spin?

Tell her to check if the psu fan spins ? If not? I think she need a new psu.

Re: No power in computer..

Hi goranpaa,

The problem is she doesn't know the first thing about opening a computer case and also, since there is no power, it wouldn't do any good. I'm just going to tell her to call a local tech rep.

Thank you,
