digital video camera

I am sorry this is not a computer question
I my room mates dad wants to buy a video camera.

money is not a problem but i don't want him to break the bank
i am thinking memory card style or CD type
he wants to use it a lot for the races drag races stock car
so anyone know what brands and types are the best or better for this kind of use?

it should be a look through the peep or at the screen type, do they still make them where you can just point and shoot versus flip the screen? screen prolly work fine i may be not giving him credit for tech stuff.

Memory card models are better (more stable) recording than the cd dito.

70X optical zoom is great for sports. Panasonic, are good a making video cams. Just have in mind that using the full or near full zoom without a steady tripod is not recommended....even if this cam got image stabilizator.
