HD Monitors

Hey guys,

I was wonder if you could help me out with a few monitor questions. I'm looking to get a new 24" monitor relatively soon. I currently have a dell 20" ultra sharp, and it has been fantastic.

My main question is, I'm seeing a lot of these new "Full HD monitors." I'm not exactly sure what the difference is between a full HD monitor, and a monitor that has a native resolution higher than 1080P, like 1920 x 1200. For example, I have my eye on this Dell Ultra Sharp:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=320-6272

As you can see, it advertises, "Full HD 1080p – Supports higher definition than HD television..."

Just because the resolution can be set to 1080P or higher makes it HD?

I was also looking at another Dell monitor:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=320-7345

This one is just advertised as an "HD monitor." So I guess my main question is, what is the difference between the two? Are there requirements a monitor needs to reach besides resolution to classify it as an HD monitor?

Thanks!

yeah basically a monitor that has a resolution of 1920x1080 is HD, however its not nessaserally classed as 'full HD' anymore, as you can get monitors and TV's that are 1440P (1440 horizontal lines instead of 1080).
Source.

I guess that answers your question.

Re: HD Monitors

Go with one of those Dell monitors. But if you wanna take full advantage of the HD. I suggest you upgrade the video card to a more modern one that have HDCP support.

This would be a cheap and good video card. About as fast as the Geforce 9800GTX. But for a nicer price tag.

Your psu will be able to handle it too.
