Seems fine to me. If you're looking to edit a buncha hi-res photos or somethin', maybe not the best. But as just a desktop resolution for your everyday things, it's fine. I'm pretty sure that's the resolution on my laptop and it works fine for me. Though I'm used to the 1680x1050 of my desktop.
Besides, I would not base whether I buy a laptop or not on just resolution. If you're looking for a laptop, post what you're gonna do with it and what you expect out of it, a price range, and maybe some laptops you've already looked at, and I'm sure the community here will help with some suggestions.
