Keyboard's Left Shift...?

So as some of you may remember, I always seem to have weird problems with keyboards. I remember the wireless keyboard I had that typed backwards. The gaming keyboard I had that would randomly act like I was holding down buttons. And the most recent problem I'm posting about today.

It seems that I cannot make a parenthesis using Left Shift + 9. They both work independently (thank goodness!), but it is hard to stop when typing and use the right shift with the 9.

I have a Saitek Cyborg Keyboard. I have already contacted Saitek via e-mail about the issue and would also post on their forum, but apparently they have something against my e-mail address (which I only used to register the keyboard when I purchased it).

I'm guessing this is just something physically wrong with the keyboard as I have tried using it on another computer and have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers.

However, in the event that I cannot fix this, I was hoping I could get a recommendation for a good, RELIABLE, keyboard that can take a pounding and maybe have media control keys. I can't stand keyboards that ghost though (in other words I need one that I can press down a few keys at once... 5 is usually the most I will ever press down at once).

Re: Keyboard's Left Shift...?

So I finally got a hold of someone at Saitek... or rather MadCatz. Just an FYI to some of you out there... it was next to impossible to get someone. I called the number that was given on the Saitek site several times but I also got their tech support's voicemail. I tried sending e-mails to them, and tried signing up on their forums (only to be told that my e-mail is banned).

I eventually had to get the number for MadCatz (from the MadCatz site), and call them. Then I got a guy who took down my complaint, name, and e-mail. So now I'm waiting for a reply from them. Apparently they might have me send in the keyboard to try and fix it, but because it's such a weird problem they might be able to resolve it without having me send it in. Hopefully it just gets replaced.

I think I'm done spending money on keyboards. I'll probably just get the $10 keyboards and say to hell with the rest. Haha.

Re: Keyboard's Left Shift...?

So here I am, nearly a month later and no reply from that guy on the phone. I did later get a reply to one of my many e-mails saying that they set me up for an RMA. So apparently I should have two orders with them. It was on the 19th or so that I got that reply for the second RMA that was setup. Well... I've not heard back since then and I have tried sending follow up e-mails to get more information.

In short: Saitek blows for customer service.

Re: Keyboard's Left Shift...?

So I finally got a replacement keyboard. It's defunct too. The g, m, and a couple other keys do not respond unless I pound them.

So... I'm looking for any recommendations (I just pushed the m key five times to type that word)... I'm looking for a new keyboard... NOT SAITEK/MADCATZ. I don't need any fancy features. I just need something durable. Haha.

Re: Keyboard's Left Shift...?

A keyboard that types backwards? Whoah, I've never heard of that. Its interesting hearing about unique happenings with technology out of your area. Anyways, why not go for a logitech keyboard and mouse? The one i'm using is over 5 years old and the only thing wring with it is the plastic layer of paint on the mouse is falling off. I do not recommend microsoft keyboards though. You can get a combo new for $40 at your local office depot or max or staples or any other computer store (united states). Elsewhere, you may need to find out the lowest price for a decent keyboard. hope that helps.

Yeah, it was odd. It was actually a Logitech keyboard (if I recall correctly) that typed backwards (I think it was a wireless one). It was like the "Home" button was held down while I typed.

I already have a Logitech G5 Mouse that I am happy with and have been using for quite some time. I'm thinking of either doing a Logitech or Kensington keyboard. I work with GeekSquad so I get the Best Buy discount. So preferably something that BBY carries.
