BIOS updating woes. :(

I've got a Soyo K7V Dragon Plus mobo, VIA KT266A chipset.

Every time I try to update the BIOS in this thing something goes wrong.

The first time, I tried updating the BIOS normally and about 75% of the writes (graphically represented) were bad!
$35.00 to Soyo for new BIOS.

Last Thursday, The RD1 BIOS Savior that I ordered came in. For those that don't know, this basically gives you a Dual BIOS.
Instructions call for installing the hardware then to boot the system as if your going to do a BIOS update.
Load AWDFlash (or what every software is used to update for specific mobo), copy current BIOS to disk, flick the switch to the secondary BIOS, update BIOS with afore saved image.
Everything was going fine until I went to update the BIOS in the RD1 system. The progress bar came up, but didn't do anything, ... for a while.
I figured, "It's just goofed somehow on updating the new BIOS, so I'll just power off and switch back to my old BIOS and boot up fine."
... ...
Hmmm, dead BIOS... ... DAMN!

Anyone know of any reasons that would keep a system's BIOS from being updated?

The system seems to run fine except for this issue.

Thanks.

NEVER EVER power off your computer when doing a BIOS update, hitting the reset button to reboot is ok, but never hit the power button.

Always remember, you are unique. Just like everyone else.

As for your problem, i have had issues with the bios beofre not wanting to update because of heat. I dunno so u might be fine. Also happned(on same comp) because the floppy drive wasn't working right.

If you have virus protection enabled in your BIOS, it may prevent a successful BIOS flash.

Overclocking is another big issue in BIOS flashing problems. You should set everything to its default speed before performing a BIOS update.

A bad sector on the floppy disk could also be an issue.

Hmmm, I'll have to check on the virus protection thingy.

I don't remember this being a problem on the Intel systems I've owned, but AMD is different, this could be different too. ???

Floppy huh? ... ... interesting, the first update completed, but was bad. Contributed it to a bad source file, could be my drive instead.

Ya, I know you never want to power off or even reset the system, but, the first time, it updated the BIOS with bad data for whatever reason, I didn't know if it was possible to immediatly turn around and re-flash the BIOS with the saved image.
The second time, it's as if the system froze while trying to start the update process, didn't have much choice that I knew of.

Not gonna' mess with it when new BIOS shows up tomorrow, I've been without my main system for a week now. Will do some serious contemplainting before attempting to setup the BIOS Savior again.

Thanks guys.
