Possible MSN Security Compromise and Looking for Solution to Counter It

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=...G=Search&meta=

I was talking to my friends on MSN and he mentioned this to me and said there are people on our university's residence network using that program to record everybody's conversation.

Due to my limited knowledge regarding MSN protocols and network technology in general, is this really feasible? If it is as simple and easy-to-use as the description states, then this could be a big security compromise for all MSN users, are there anyway to counter this?

Thanks.

Try using Trillian ( http://www.download.com/Trillian/300...-10047473.html ) instead. It might make your end of conversation harder to sniff out.

Quote:
Who use it?
Company Managers
Supervise your employees' chating at work, and record the time and conversation details for later reference.
Parents
Want to know what your children are most concerned?
Couples
Monitor whom your partner is chat with and what they are talking about.
Priceless. And the uber-poor grammar makes it that much better.

Oh and to answer your question: yes, it is that easy. I'd say to try downloading the program and see for yourself, but there's no telling whether it's got some malware on it.
