Downgraded from Vista to XP Pro, can't connect to network. Possible adapter issue.
As the title states, I got fed up with Vista's bloat and compatability issues, so I did a clean install with XP Pro. However, i now cannot connect to my home network or internet. I have tried the netsetup wizard on all computers many times, made sure the cables and cable modems were connected, no computer names are the same. I believe the issue is a lack of network driver, because i only have the following listed under network adapters in sysinfo.
1394 Net Adapter
RAS Async adapter
WAN Miniport (L2TP)
WAN Miniport (PPTP)
WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
Direct Paralell
Wan Miniport (IP)
Packet Scheduler Miniport
I am suspicious about the lack of any brand-name adapters, such as an intel network adapter. I feel that possibly XP did not install the correct drivers.
