Acer Aspire 5100 Won't connect to wifi?

I got an Acer Aspire a little over a year ago. Earlier today, my connection was fine and wasn't having problems. A few hours ago, I lost my internet connection. I tried reconencting, but nothing worked. I restarted, and still nothing. I did a restore point from a time last night and still nothing.

It's an Acer Aspire 5100 with Vista. That's about as much as I can tell you since I'm at a friend's house and don't have the laptop with me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would try turning off the modem / router for 10 seconds first. Sometimes the bad weather can interfere with your connection. I've had this similar problem before but could not fix it.

Well, I had a friend of a friend look at it (he has a degree in computer science) and he said that it's my motherboard. It was having trouble starting up when this happened and I haven't had sound since the beginning of July. I'm going to bring it to someplace and get an "official" diagnosis and see where it goes from there.
