reminder popup

Every half an hour I get a window appearing on my screen in the form of an off line web page. In the blue box at the top the words "reminder: and the date and time" appear. The only way to get rid of this screen in task manager but it will pop up again half an hour later. how do I get rid of this as it is very very annoying, please help.

Running winXP, Broadband.

Thanks

pull up task manager and see whats running. its most likely either spyware or the messenger service causing it.

Yes. Try running an Ad Aware or Spybot scan on your computer.

Pop-Up

Ok, I think we can fix this annoying pop-up. This sounds like one of those "net send" pop-up ads and yes they are very annoying. Go to start/settings/control panel/administrative tools/services/look for a file called "messenger" in the list and double click it. Then click on stop/then under the heading "startup type", select disable from the drop-down menu and then click apply. Also, make sure your firewall is enabled as well. If you need help on this, please reply to me. By the way, by doing this, it will not affect your messaging services at all. Also, I reccommend
downloading the best pop-up blocker on the planet (FREE) at
www.panicware.com. Click on download at the top of the page and scroll down to find the one that is absolutely free. When prompted, select "open" and not save. Let me know if this helps.
