Re: alienware sucks? good?

Hey I bought a 7500 4800 cpu duel 7800gtx 2 gig of ram and this thing ran like a 386 dx, what apiece of shit 3400.00 dollars worth of crap. So they said send it back and we will fix it, I said no I will send it back and I want a refund {you had your chance to make it right when you ran all your tests at the factory. If you send it back for repair you will be over the 30 days and you own it DONT DO IT. So I put a claim in with my credit card company and suck faces at allianware sent me 2800.00 back to my acct.Must be the restocking fee for bad hardware. My credit card people said they will have to pay it all or they will take it, No sweat off me I am not paying interest because the credit card people credited my account the day I sent it back. The best thing you can do is let the credit card people fight with them that’s what you pay for, Unless you want to speak with some jackass down in Cuba {Miami}. You can’t deal with these people its like being on a merry-go-round. Do Not Wait for them to refund your money. call the credit people and get it started ASAP because they will screw you

If you get a bad machine return it fast
Get rma number
Get insurance
Get delivery confirmation
And ship the crap back
And call your credit card company for a credit
Let them fight for you because they will try and stick you with a restocking fee

Re: alienware sucks? good?

Build your own, It's cheaper, It's not that hard, I was a noob and I built mine with just asking around, and researching. I didnt even know what half these parts were until I did it myself. And it performs probably better than any store bought POS.

Re: alienware sucks? good?

While Alienware might provide high-end products, their prices are way too high and half the time the stuf doesnt even work. I will not post the entire story, but I have been through a horror story with then regarding a laptop I bought that has a problem with the motherboard. I would suggest not even buying alienware. Their products might be ok for the most part but their service is horrible. Just search online and you can find hundreds of stories of how bad their service is. Their agents are rude and they are seemingly trained in misdirection and delay. I was misled, delayed, and downright lied to at every stage of this process by alienware and i am now in the process of filing a small claims case against them. The last straw was when i sent the laptop in to have the motherboard replaced and all they did was reinstall windows. In conclusion, ALIENWARE SUCKS!!!! Don't believe the hype. Read reviews on forums. Alienware is not worth it.

You said that your credit card company credited your account. I retired from the customer service dept. of a really big bank. Let me explain how that works. When you contact your credit card company and file a complaint they (your credit card company ) gives you a CONDITIONAL credit. They then file your complaint with either Master Card or Visa. They are the ones that will be the arbiter of your complaint and THEIR WORD IS FINAL. If they decide in your favor, then Alienware will have to repay your bank for the charge. If however, they decide against you, then your credit card WILL be recharged and you will have to pay the charge. If you fail to pay your credit card company for the charge, the end result will be that it will go on your credit report and probably will damage your credit rating, i.e. car loans, home and other types of credit.
It's a sad fact that the good guy, you, do not always win.
If you used Discover or American Express, I have no idea how they handle disputes.

Re: alienware sucks? good?

Do not buy ALIENWARE
i know first hand, they are junk all the hype they tell you on the web site is all bull.
i had a aurora 7500 duel core duel vid cards i spent around 3500 for it and from day 1 right out of the box it didn't work.
tech support was 2nd or 3rd rate at best.to make a long tiresome ordeal with over 20 hrs on the phone trying to fix the computer(a new computer)
its been back to there repair depot 1 time and now its on its way back to florida for another vacation.

there motto "we build them like our own" & 200 point qc check is just crap to get you to order there product.and the warrenty is just as bad.i had 3yr with on site.if they checked it like they state than they would have found that the operating system and video cards were bad

i had there credit card so they had to wavier there 15% re-stocking fee.

thats the funny part they ship me a high end gaming computer that doesn't play games or work right from the start and want to charge me to send it back for a refund.

Dells are way overpriced. Thats all I have to say. If you're feeling ambitous, bild your own. Its so much better, and so much cheeper. (Some assembly required)

Re: alienware sucks? good?

alienware pcs suck. The lan center i go to has 16 pcs(all with the same specs) except some are alienware pcs and the rest are dells. The dell pcs ran faster than the alienware ones.

Re: alienware sucks? good?

If you are really all about an getting oem gaming rig, I would recommend a VoodooPC, they are way overpriced in my opinion but they don't have nearly the customer support problems that Alienware has. Second on your options list would be a dell, they have 'better' customer support. If you are up to it though, I would highly recommend that you build your pc though, it is a rewarding experiance and is really quite simple when you get down to it. It doesnt take much time either for that matter, I just built one for a buddy that took about 2hours.

Re: alienware sucks? good?

I hear Alienware has LOTS of issues with overheating, in spite of the fact they may tout "high end cooling components". I honestly havent heard anyone say "Oh my God! Im sure glad I sunk 3 grand into my Alienware PC!" Lotsa folks seem to think they are way overpriced and like others have said earlier, you can build your own with the exact same components they use (minus the nifty cases and paintjobs) for much much less. Save your dough and build it yourself.
BTW, that neat-o super-spiffy case doesnt make it run any better! Kinda like putting spinners on a Gremlin, IMO.

Alienware Nightmare

Alienware support was the worst experience of my computer life. I bought one of their machines two months ago and it has never worked. I’ve spent countless hours with their incompentant staff on the phone. They sent a field tech out and he made the machine worse. I did every thing they ask me to and when I asked for my money back we had passed the magic thirty day limit. They are very clever. So i was stuck having done all they ask, with a very expensive broken machine.

Their solution? Send it to us and we’ll fix it and mail it back to you… this is not what I paid for. But I had no choice, so once again following their instructions… I just got a phone call that the case was broken in transport… and of course this will not be covered by their warrenty so now I’m two months in with a broken machine and a case that is broken and they won’t fix.

Their solution? “You can buy a new case from us” Again no choice. I hate alienware. They took my money and my time and unrepentantly screw me at every turn.

I will never do business with them again!

My advice… as soon as you see a single problem get your money back… do not do anything to help them or accomodate them… immediately get a refund. Immediately - they will do nothing to help you. They seem completely unconcerned with how horrible your experience is.

I can not stress how strongly you should avoid doing business with this company!
