AIM signing on and off
My AIM keeps signing on and off every 5-15 minutes...I upgraded, and I'm not the biggest fan of Trillian...is there anything I can do to stop it? I'm going insane!

Re: AIM signing on and off
You might try checking your preferences or options to see what it says for controlling online status. Otherwise I would suggest going back to Trillian.

Re: AIM signing on and off
Not necessarily. If someone signs into your account while you are already signed in, by default it prompts you, so he should see the message and give permission for the other account to sign on. So thats not the case.
It could be drops in connectivity.
Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling with the same version you used before. Or try the new version.
I prefer DeadAim over Trillian.

Re: AIM signing on and off
use the dreaded trillian or some other aim replacement to see where the trouble lies.

Re: AIM signing on and off
I don't get all the h8 over trillian. I snagged a full version off a torrent years ago and have been using that ever since and it's worked flawlessly, barring the whole yahoo fiasco (which I never used to begin with, so) Plus, one icon, not five million.

Re: AIM signing on and off
ianelarazure, you're right about one thing- no one is signing on anywhere else, but I'm not a he ...I don't hate Trillian...I just prefer my profile to be more colorful and I don't want to have to transfer my away messages...the profile looks like crap cause it's absolutely boring with no color. I hate the fact that I can't do that with Trillian, otherwise i wouldn't mind.

Re: AIM signing on and off
And I love DeadAim, but I want to keep all my away messages...I treid saving them as a registry file and blah blah blah...but I don't think that works with Win2K...unless there's a different way...I have a TON of away messages and it would take forever just to change them over...

Sorry for the misinterpretation. But alas there is hope. Open AIM and go to Save Buddy List. It saves everything! Away messages, alerts, everything you need. Save it to a file, then use it as a backup. But with DeadAim, it integrates with AIM, so you would not lose them anyway.

Re: AIM signing on and off
But if I uninstall AIM then reinstall, will the saved buddy list still be there?

Re: AIM signing on and off
It saves mine just fine. I have two accounts, I saved the buddy list for one. Then cloned AIM and loaded it to the other and it works fine. Saves my messages and all.
Im sorry, I do not know why yours didnt work. :\
