Connecting to my plasma TV

I just installed a Radeon X1600 Pro 512 MB PCI Express Graphics Card in my Dimension 5100 and was wondering if it is safe to try to connect my computer to my Plasma TV so that I can also use it as my monitor?

yes it is safe.i hooked my comp to my lcd and my school hooks their lappys to their crt tvs.so im sure you can.

Depends on the plasma you have. If it's an older one it probably has some issues with burn in (and computers usually use some pretty high-contrast displays). Even if it's a new one some still have issues with burn-in. So if you do, just be careful and don't leave anything on a high-contrast picture for too long. And when I say too long, I'm talking for a few hours.

What kinda plasma? Just to be sure.

It's a Pioneer 42 inch. Plasma model number PDP 42A3HD
I got it about 2 years ago so it is still relatively new. It has an extra S video connection as well as an HDMI connection so at least I have some connectivity choices. I actually have a 6 foot long DVI to HDMI cable in one of my many junk drawers, I will find it and let you guys know if I was successful or not.

It'll work. Although I wouldn't particularly recommend using a Plasma as a monitor. Just be careful to not leave any high-contrast displays up for too long.
