Windown Media Player 9

I have Windowns ME with Windown Media Player. I have friends that send me to play and now it will not work. It will play that I have on file from two months ago. I receive a oxcood1199--cannot play file. I have downloaded Windowns Media Play 9 and sill does not play any files that my friends send me. What do I ned to do to correct the problem. Thanks

They may be using media player 10 or 11 and version 9 can't recognize the file type. Go to microsoft update and try Media Player 10 anyway. Much improve version from 9. Version 11 my not work with ME.

If it still contiues not play try getting the codecs for it... I use divx and ccc(combined community codec) its works with everything... google them..
