Re: laptop advice

It depends on what you're looking for. Size, battery life, power, gaming, video editing, etc.

Smaller laptops are easier to carry around, but you'll sometimes pay a little more for that compact-ness. Likewise, with larger laptops, you have the bigger screen, so you'll pay more for that also.

Extended batteries can sometimes get you 12 hours (depends on the settings). Which is important if you're going to be away from a power source for a while. Or if you're going to be on battery doing demanding things (such as gaming).

Re: laptop advice

If you're interested to know more about laptops, check out these links from:

DriverHeaven and Anandtech.

I like laptops myself, but I always feel that I want to have access both to my laptop and my stationary PC. I feel that it's a great combination and would never want to have only a laptop or only a stationary PC (or stationary MAC).

Laptops are always a dissipointment when it comes to possible upgrades, repairs and performance.

( I see this thread is quite old now, ehum, but I felt I wanted to comment on it. )
