Team Fortress 2

Hey there, any of you guys in the beta? I just purchased the orange package off steam and have been playing the beta a lot. I wrote a review for you guys

Game Play
If you are a fan of fps at all, this is a definite buy. It is very polished and the different play styles for all the different classes make it a diverse enough game that it will stay fun for a long time. It is a crazy fast paced shooter if you play as a scout, and a slower more meticulous waiting game if you play as a sniper, etc etc. Everyone can find the play style they like and play that class.

For a beta release of a game, on the first day, it is extremely solid. To be honest it feels like a finished product already and you can only expect it to get better in that department.

Visuals

You have all seen the previews, it looks just like that. The thing you can't see in the previews, is this cool effect they do when you die. It shows who killed you and gives you like a cinematic freeze frame of that character, which is cool. Also if any part of your dismantled body is on the screen it like labels that part of your body with a little text box colored to your teams likeness. The phrases say things like "Your Torso" "Your Head" etc. It was a cool little touch.

There are plenty of little cool things like that in the game that keep you interested and laughing.

Summary
Buy this if you like fps, and if not this might be the one to get you into at whatever playstyle you should choose. And with Halflife 2 EP2, and Portals which will in competition with tf2 and tf2 beta for top motivation for purchasing orange box, how can you go wrong with a 45$ price tag?

Re: Team Fortress 2

I been playing the hell out of beta. Damn fun game. The engineer is my favorite but I also rake in tons of kills as a demoman and a scout. Frag count doesn't mean shit in this game however. The team element makes this game something special. Classes are well balanced I think. Scout might need to be a little weaker. And the pyro needs way more flame range. Other than that, excellent game.

I did buy orange box for hl2 Ep2, but I don't know if I'll ever get around to it considering how fun TF2 is.

Re: Team Fortress 2

I didn't get to play TF2 a lot while i was at a lan center. My friends were to caught up with other games and some had to download it...:\ The only thing i did was play as a sniper and the support. Im not sure what it was called but it carried a huge machine gun.

Re: Team Fortress 2

I like Ep2 but you can't beat TF2 and Portal for replayability. Especially Portal. Sweet surprise game of the year.
